by Adam Smith. 6 May 2010

Winner of Springleap/Advanced Photoshop Trends 2010 competition announced

In issue 67 Advanced Photoshop magazine teamed up with design-loving community Springleap to bring you the ‘Trends 2010’ competition.

Drawing inspirations from popular culture, advertising, product design, etc, this competition presented the Springleap.com and AP family with the chance to enter a competition with some seriously jaw-dropping incentives. Now the lucky winner of these has been announced – congratulations Grant Shepley aka Chucky, creator of the victorious design Quarantine (below).

Springleap winner goes LIVE!“There’s no big story behind the design, all I really wanted is it to have a sci-fi feel!”

With the winning votes decided, the Springleap team couldn’t be happier with the response to this competition and the chosen triumphant design. “Quarantine was a super awesome design that certainly stood out,” the team reveals. “The gas mask was very reminiscent of the Cold War – the whole Nuclear defence craze when everyone started to wear gas masks as an accessory. It was just the other day that Mexican designer Gianfranco Reni displayed crystal-covered gas masks during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Mexico City. It seems to us that Chucky was right on track with predicting future trends. Now we have to figure out how we’re going to print this crazy design in UV ink.”
