The annual Design and Art Direction (D&AD) exhibition is set to showcase 2010′s fresh student talent

Sorry old blood, the new blood has arrived

Following a radical transformation, New Blood, D&AD’s graduate showcase with over 100 stands of the best advertising and design courses, returns to east London. Networking with the industry is the hot topic. Local agencies and studios are getting involved with a series of events to give new graduates the best possible start to their professional careers.

The New Blood Exhibition takes place at the Old Truman Brewery as part of the Free Range season between Thursday 24 and Monday 28 June. Courses from around the UK will showcase their work to secure jobs and work placements from agencies, studios and brands scouting for the next big thing. A selection of exhibitors’ work will be available online at http://newblood.dandad.org.

The New Blood Festival will take over the neighbourhood at the same time, with events hosted by design, digital and advertising agencies. Each has come up with a unique way to engage with graduates and tutors, hosting talks, workshops, parties and even a football match.

Many great headlining acts are waiting in the wings. Companies such as Poke, Digit, Stink, onedotzero, Sapient, Albion, W&k, DIY Kyoto, Digitas, P&s, Cogs, Jelly, Grey London and Erasmus. Over 30 partners will open their doors to students, with over 40 different events running alongside the main exhibition at the Truman Brewery.

“D&AD is doing more than ever to help give talented students the opportunity to shine in the current climate,” says D&AD education chairman Greg Quinton. “We’ve revamped New Blood so students and professionals are directly engaging with each other in unique ways. The creative industries make a massive contribution to the UK’s economy and we need to ensure companies continue to thrive by helping them discover the very best new talent.”

‘Best New Blood’ is judged on Thursday 24 June. Creative professionals will decide which stand, team or individual showcases the most outstanding creative ideas, executed and presented to the highest standard.
