Tip of the week

by Jo Cole. 10 Jun 2009

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to bring in a tip of the week

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to bring in a tip of the week. These will be very simple nuggets of information that will either speed up a procedure, let you work smarter with a tool or command, or just be something that we have found useful. If you have any favourite tips, feel free to share them in the comments area. We’d love to hear from you.

Quickly hide layers

For total control over images it’s vital to create layers for any new task. Although this gives you more creative control, it means you end up with a long list in the Layers palette. If you need to carry out a complex edit on one layer and don’t want to be distracted by the others, hold down the Option/Alt key and click the eye icon next to the layer you want visible. All the other layers will be hidden.

Great minds think alike Simon! I promise I didn’t steal your post – I wrote this for a feature in Photoshop Creative issue 12.

Although if you are planning on sharing any more tips, let me know first! ;)
